About Me

Andrew Hodges serious.jpg

I’ve worked in publishing as a full-time book editor since 2019, including for three of the Big Five, supporting fiction authors through the revision stages of their novels.

My goal as a fiction developmental editor is to help authors develop and confidently submit books that resonate with their intended readership. This might involve aligning a manuscript with current market expectations or intentionally choosing to do something different.

My editorial approach is direct, kind, and supportive. I'm also fluent in Croatian, German, and Spanish, and love collaborating on novels with intercultural elements, themes, or settings too.

Since 2019, I’ve worked with over a hundred fiction authors. My portfolio includes multiple New York Times and USA Today bestselling authors and a Hugo Award finalist. I particularly enjoy working with authors from marginalized backgrounds (especially LGBTQ+) who are navigating the traditional publishing world.

My services are best suited to authors who already have some experience with craft development and revision. I do not work on AI-generated or AI-assisted fiction.

Outside my day job, I’m a trail runner, mushroom forager, and speculative fiction writer.
